Ways To Prevent Weight Gain If You Are Sitting All Day

One problem that many people have is being in a job where you end up sitting down most of the day.  This type of job can eventually add on a few extra pounds over time since you aren’t being physically challenged.  Most people don’t want to have to deal with this extra weight.

Can this weight gain be prevented?

If you do have a job where you end up sitting all day long, you will need to change some habits to ensure that you don’t get too heavy.  While sitting during the day, your body is relaxed and is burning less calories.

The first consideration is your diet.  If you eat a healthy diet and watch the intake of fats, sugars, and calories, you can prevent quite a bit of weight gain.  Many don’t realize how much they eat during the day.  Keep track of what you are eating.  Also be sure to eat healthy foods like vegetables and fruits since they are better for you and lower in calories.
Exercise will also be important.  While sitting for eight hours during your job is not as good as having a more physical day, it doesn’t mean that you have to gain weight.  The problems start when you sit all day at work then sit all evening at home.  You can still have exercise be part of your lifestyle despite how long you aren’t moving at work.

Focus not only on cardio but also muscle building exercises.  The reason is that if you build more muscle, you will have a faster metabolism during the day.  While you are seated at work, that extra muscle will still be working burning off extra calories.  This is a very good way of preventing that extra weight gain from added fat.

Do what you can to develop these good habits and your job shouldn’t make a difference in how you look.
