I t doesn’t sound bad indeed!!
And if only there was a crumb of truth it would be perfect!
Gosh! The more you eat the more you lose! What a miracle!
Ok now! Let’s drop from the clouds. There are no miracles, only misleading exaggeration.
The term itself is inapt ,inappropriate and misguiding. It’s a glamorous term with no real content, product of a sick-or should I say creative?- imagination. There cannot be any foods with negative calories! The theory behind negative calorie foods is that our body needs more calories to process them than those they contibute.
There is no scientific documentation/proof in corroboration of this arbitrary allegation! If you expect to lose weight based on this concept, you will be betrayed and disappointed.
If you search the web you will find many lists with negative calories foods .
In the beginning they contained only vegetables but gradually they expanded to contain many fruits among which you can find pine-apples ,mangoes and bananas!!!
What an exotism!
Are we serious?
One time I used to eat a lot of bananas. I started to put weight like a pig. It was a very logical consequence since bananas contain a whopping 900 cal/kg , are very easily processed and we use them- for these reasons- as a staple post-workout food.
I also experienced the same thing with apples.
If theory was right I would turn into a sylph!Instead I turned to be a pig!
Query no 1
What about the pure vegetarians?Shouldn’t they shrink to death?
Query no 2
What about the big animals fed on grass e.g. cows?Or the theory is valid only for credulous humans?
Granted ,we do a big favour to our body when we eat big quantities of vegetables. But this has nothing to to do with the theory behind negative calories foods.
Vegetables have an unsurpassed nutritional density compared with all the other food groups.
This means that thet offer lots of valuable micronutrients-antioxidants,phytochemicals,vitamins,minerals etc.-at a very modest caloric cost.
Take care though: It’s not the same with the fruits! Fruits are nice but you will have to pay a quite high coloric cost. Therefore eat fruits with the befitting moderation.
Take away message: forget about negative calories foods and stick to the basics:
-caloric balance control
-eating natural,unprocessed foods
– 5-6 meals ,each of them containing vegetables ang a clean protein source
-an effective physical exercise regime including both weight training and aerobics.
