When it comes to weight training and body building, gaining healthy weight is a must. And that means you need to following a strict (most of the time!) eating regime. But what part does fiber play in your weight gain plan? Consuming large amounts of fiber by itself won’t make you huge, in fact it could have the opposite effect if you eat it at wrong times of the day.

But consuming fiber will help your body process the extra-ordinary amount of food you ingest on a daily basis. Who said body building was easy? The digestive system of those hard gainers who eat on mass, day in and day out often have trouble handling all the additional calories – I know I used to! But eating fiber with your set amount of carbohydrate, protein and fat can help you get the most out of your nutrition program.

Brown rice and oatmeal have a high fiber content and they are also a great source of complex carbohydrates which you should include in your weight gaining diet. When you include these types of foods (high fiber foods) with most meals (except before and after workouts) will not just aid your digestive system, but will also help you put on size. As a general rule, strive to take in up to six servings of vegetables a day such as broccoli, spinach and asparagus. Consuming two to three portions with a meal should be relatively easy. Something else which you need to consider (which will also aid your digestive system along with eating high fiber foods) is water! The ordinary person should drink two liters of water per day and as a weight trainer, you hydration level is that much more important.

Even when we’re lugging around huge bottles of water at workout times, most of us are usually in a constant state of mild dehydration. Many people just don’t drink enough water, full stop. It’s probably not their fault, they just never knew.

But another general rule which you must adhere to is this – If you want to get huge, then you need to stay hydrated at all times because this pumps your muscles full of fluids, increasing strength, your performance and ultimately your progress – muscle mass! You need to drink a minimum of 3 liters of water a day to keep your body in good hydration. Mass Gain Nutrition Plan
