Many people find it an arduous task to look their best, especially when it comes to building a well, defined body. With our busy lives and bad eating habits it is no wonder that the statistics for obesity are growing fast. Therefore, it is important to make sure that we take a few days a week to exercise, while eating a well balanced, healthy diet.
Many of us who exercise will know that it important to eat healthy, especially if we are doing intensive training, as this could impair us from performing at our best. However, many people are under the impression that in order to lose weight and stay healthy we cannot eat lot of food. Well, not necessarily, you can replace most of your junk food with those that contain fatty acids such as fish, since this is not high in saturated fats and has been proven to reduce heart disease. Foods high in fibre is also good for you, such as fresh fruit, vegetables and nuts, since they help maintain a healthy digestive system, lower cholesterol levels, help lower blood pressure levels and reduce the risk of a stroke.
Eating foods that are high in fibre and high in fatty acids can slowly burn off fat, since you will be replacing most of your bad eating habits with good food. I am not saying you cannot have junk food once in a while, as I am sure a lot of us enjoy chocolate, crisps, fizzy drinks, fish and chips etc. Now and again this is fine. Remember it easy to return back to old habits, so only eat this type of food in moderation!
Although eating healthy has real benefits, exercising on a regular basis is just as important. The way to approach this, especially if you have not exercised in a while is to try brisk walking for around thirty minutes a day. This may help blood pressure levels, contribute towards lowering cholesterol levels, while helping to maintain a healthy heart.
Jogging is another great ‘fat burner’ especially if you want to lose weight quicker. Try jogging for thirty minutes, three days a week and then slowly increasing this, once you feel more comfortable. However, each individual person works at their own pace, so this may vary from person to person.
I am sure many of you can think of other ways to exercise and eat healthy, but before doing any of the above I would advise you to seek professional guidance beforehand, either from a doctor or nutritionist.
