How To Diet Before The Big Event

Crash dieting is certainly not a healthy way to prepare for that big event. However there are ways to trim down in a couple of weeks without violating any health law if there are. But if you mean losing huge amount of weight in a short amount of time is certainly a big no-no. This would mean starving yourself and the body’s response is still the same to let you survive through this crisis. If you do this, chances are your weight loss will enter a plateau phase where you don’t lose weight and you don’t gain weight either. It is just a period where you suddenly go flat line. True at the beginning you might lose weight but what difference does this make if a week before that big event you go plateau?

Given that you only have a couple of weeks to go before that event, here a few tips you can make use of without bringing detriment to your health.

Five to six small meals is a big yes for dieting people instead of going to a full three meals in a day. I know this advice is also given to pregnant women but this will greatly help to people who likes to diet too. Eat only what you need and will last you for four hours after this you are ready for the next bite.

Cut out sugar and alcohol. Cutting down sugar drinks also includes natural fruit juices as well. The same is done with alcohol. Drink only plain water or beverages that have zero calories included in them. Otherwise water is all you need.

It is also important to cut down your starch consumption. This will involve rice, pasta, bread or potato. Nothing really beats rice or so they say, so if you are really serious about dieting, reduce your rice intake to three small servings in a day say going for a half-cup instead of a full cup. Do not worry; this will give you enough energy so to speak.

Avoid eating anything cooked in white flour like cookies, donuts, crackers and cakes because they give you too much calories than you can imagine.

You can do one light aerobic exercise in a day. Brisk walking will do. This will burn enough fat and calories. You can do this for half an hour and you are already set.

Two servings of lean protein, vegetables, fruits, non-fat milk and non-fat dairy products will give you enough vitamins and minerals you will need. Anything more than will predispose you to gain weight instead of losing them.

You can stay away from high salt or sodium food or beverage to avoid too much water retention. Water will add to your over-all weight and will likely cause you to bloat. You can do this perhaps three to four days before your big event.

You can opt for coconut juice which is a diuretic to get rid of excess water from your body. This also contains low fat and low calories. This is perfect to act as an anti-bloating solution.

On the day of your big event, you can do a wrapping solution like those found in slimming salons. You can make use of elastic bandages or those body binders that can be bought from stores.

Always remember that if you are preparing for a big event, crash dieting will never be the solution. No matter how important this event is to you, your health is still the highest priority. You will only get more harm than benefit with it.
