Keeping a balance of all the 5 major food groups such as carbohydrate’s, protein, fat and fruit and vegetables is very important as it helps our bodies to remain healthy. If the balance between protein, fat and carbhydrate’s is not right it can lead to serious health problems such as obesity, cancer, and heart disease.
The great thing about having a healthy diet plan is that you do not have to cut out any of your favourite foods and are still entitled to have the odd treat, and if you are on a diet trying to lose weight you will more than likely to stick at it, as you can still enjoy the foods you like. Its just all about getting the balance right.
In addition, it is well to note that a well balanced diet is one that contains all of the five main food groups in just the right proportion in which the individual needs them to build up the body, repair it, and supply it with energy. What this proportion should be cannot be stated offhand, because the quantity and kind of food substances vary individualy with the size, age, and activity of each and every person.
