Liver Disease Diet – Where's All The Good Info?

I was doing some research, and looking for information on a liver disease diet, and seriously, there is not much out there. I was getting frustrated from the lack of information available. I can only imagine how frustrated you must feel too.

What I did gather from my research is that a person who has liver disease should eat a healthy diet, avoiding sugars and saturated fats. That’s great advice for anyone, but it doesn’t seem very tailored to someone who is suffering with liver problems.

Are there specific foods that a person suffering from this type of disease can benefit from? Is there a certain combination of foods that can even help reverse the damage? What about supplements? Is there anything else that can help? What about stress-relieving techniques?

For someone who is suffering with fatigue, swelling and nausea, I don’t think “eat a healthy diet” is advice that’s going to solve any problems. However, not to dwell on the negative, there are a few tips that I did find in my search. Please note that this information isn’t specific as there are many types of liver disease, and each individual may need a little different liver disease diet.

– Eat fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and eat the kind that grow naturally from the earth, not ones that are packaged in cans or boxes.

– Eat plenty of fiber as a way to cleanse your system.

– For protein, eat mostly beans, nuts and fish and smaller amounts of chicken and other meats.

– Eat healthy fats such as ones that come from fish, nuts, avocados and healthier oils such as olive.

– Avoid alcohol.

– Avoid processed foods, as they usually contain way too much sodium and other unknown chemicals.

– Avoid refined sugars and any type of “white” grain. These have no nutritional value.

Again, this information is fairly vague and sounds like a diet that every person should follow. But, it’s certainly a good place to start.
