List of Alkaline Foods – What to Eat For Good Health

Perhaps you may have seen a list of alkaline foods and wonder, why should we eat more alkaline-rich foods than acidic ones? To better understand, let us first discuss the importance of keeping a balance pH level of the body.

pH stands for “potential of Hydrogen and is used to define the level of acidity or alkalinity of a solution.” The pH range can be from 0-14, with 0 being the highest level of acidity and 14 as the highest level of alkalinity. Our blood contains both acid and alkaline residues from the food we consume. Thus, the ideal pH of a healthy person is at 7.35 – 7.45. Even just a slight decrease of this level can cause damage to our cells, tissues, organs and eventually our body system.

Our cells need enzymes and nutrients to survive and we get these essential nutrients from the food we eat. Some foods contain higher levels of acid while there are foods that contain higher levels of alkaline. Acidic foods will of course leave acid residue and will be absorbed by our blood cells. On the contrary, alkaline-rich foods will leave alkaline residue in our cells. This is why there is a direct relationship between proper eating and maintaining a balance pH.

Nature has provided us with an abundant food variety. Fruits and vegetables are not just limited to a few kinds so we need not feel bored in eating the same thing every day. We don’t even have to deprive ourselves by sticking with just one type of meal to be fit and strong. All we need to do is to determine the level of alkalinity and acidity of different foods and match it with our diets.

Anthony Robbins has come with a list of alkaline foods and acidic foods so it shouldn’t be difficult to start this new method of dieting. Understandably, we should lessen our intake of acidic meals and beverages especially if we have already reached the borderline of being acidic. Remember that excessive levels of acid in our system can lead to the development of serious diseases.
